We live in an amazing era, when we can receive our information in so many diverse ways. We’ve written about the Wicked6 Cyber Games on this site; we’ve provided fact sheets and flyers about competing and sponsoring the event; we’ve tweeted and Insta’d and LinkedIn’d. And now we’re on a podcast!
Last week, Mari Galloway, the Women’s Society of Cyberjutsu (WSC) CEO, was interviewed by Alexandra Moxin of the Advance Tech Podcast. You can listen to it now to understand what is driving us—all of us on the Wicked6 team—to put on this amazing event.
Oh yes, it’s about the excitement of seeing top-notch teams compete in cyber missions beneath the lights in an esports arena. And of course, it’s about bringing the competitors and corporate sponsors together to illustrate how cyber skills match their recruiting needs. But above all of that, this is about fueling the WSC machine to advance girls and women in the field of cybersecurity.
Listen to Mari describe her first cybersecurity job, and the challenges that the environment, truly lacking in diversity, offered up. Hear her describe how that experience drove her to invest in her skills and make changes that led her to today: in a senior cybersecurity role for a major organization, and as founding board member and CEO of WSC. And learn about the many ways that the WSC community of women and men provide opportunities to train, to certify, to network, to mentor, and to increase diversity in the field.
Listen to Mari on the Advance Tech Podcast today—it’s time well spent!
